SMS Program — Emergency Alerts

Last updated July 31, 2026

This page documents how recipients of Stand Sure Emergency Alerts give their consent. It exists so that anyone — including a carrier or messaging-provider reviewer — can read the exact call to action, the exact messages we send, and the exact reply that turns texting on, without needing an account or a login.

01Program name and operator

Program name

Stand Sure Emergency Alerts, operated by Stand Sure App LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.

Program description

Stand Sure is an app that helps a person document an encounter with law enforcement and reach people who may be able to help. This program sends a text message to an emergency contact when the Stand Sure user who designated them activates panic mode in the app.

The purpose of this page The consent for this program is given by the emergency contact over text message, not inside the app. This page publishes the exact wording of every message in that exchange so the call to action can be verified by anyone, at any time, without an account.

This program is separate from Stand Sure Account Alerts, the transactional program that sends login verification codes and account notifications to registered users. That program is described in §9 of our Terms of Service and uses a different sender. The two programs do not share messages, senders, or consent records.

02Who receives these messages

Recipients of Stand Sure Emergency Alerts are emergency contacts designated by a registered Stand Sure user — typically a family member, partner, or close friend.

The recipient is not the app user. The person who receives these texts generally does not have a Stand Sure account and has never opened the app. That is precisely why their consent is collected by text message, in their own words, from their own phone — and why it can never be given on their behalf by the user who listed them.

A Stand Sure user entering someone's phone number does not opt that person in. It only permits us to send them the one invitation message described in step 2 below. Nothing else is sent unless they reply YES.

03The opt-in flow, step by step

Every message below is reproduced verbatim from the messages our system sends. Bracketed items such as {first and last name} are filled in at send time.

  1. A registered user adds an emergency contact and asks for text alerts

In the Stand Sure app, on the Trusted Contacts screen, the user adds a contact with a name and phone number and turns on the toggle labeled:

    Alert on panic

The screen states, at the moment the contact is added, that turning this on does not by itself enable texting:

Alerts are sent by email. Text alerts start only after this person agrees by text.

After the contact is saved, their card shows the current texting state, which begins as:

    Texts: need their OK first

The app never claims a text will be sent to a contact who has not consented. The card reads “need their OK first,” then “invite sent — waiting for their YES,” and only after consent, “on — they replied YES.”

  2. The contact receives ONE invitation message

We send exactly one message to that number. This is the call to action, and it is the only message the contact receives before they consent:

    From Stand Sure Emergency Alerts

{Stand Sure user's full name} added you as an emergency contact on Stand Sure. Reply YES to get alerts if they need help. Reply STOP to decline.

One invitation per phone number. If the invitation is not answered, no reminder and no second invitation is ever sent. This message is sent when the contact is added — never during an emergency.

  3. The contact replies YES from that same number

YES is the opt-in keyword. Consent is given only by a reply sent from the same mobile number that received the invitation. We also accept Y and CONFIRM as equivalents.

    From the contact

    YES

No one else can send this reply on the contact's behalf. The Stand Sure user who added them cannot enter it, skip it, or override it from inside the app.

  4. The contact receives a confirmation

We reply once, confirming enrollment and restating how to leave:

    From Stand Sure Emergency Alerts

You're set. You'll get a Stand Sure alert if they need help. Reply STOP anytime to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply.
  5. Only then do they receive alerts

From this point forward, and only from this point forward, the contact receives an alert when the user who designated them activates panic mode in the app. A sample alert:

    From Stand Sure Emergency Alerts

🚨 STAND SURE ALERT: {Stand Sure user's full name} has activated panic mode at {time}. Location: {street address, or "Location unavailable"} Monitor their session live: https://standsure.app/#/family/{token} Reply STOP to opt out.

The third line is a private link to a live view of that one session, and it appears only when such a view exists. When it does not, the line is omitted entirely rather than sending a link that goes nowhere.

04What it looks like

05What happens if there is no reply

06Opting out and getting help

In plain language Reply STOP to any message and we stop texting that number — permanently, everywhere. Reply HELP for help.

Opt-out keywords

Reply with any of the following to any message from this program:

STOP   STOPALL   UNSUBSCRIBE   CANCEL   END   QUIT

STOP suppresses the number permanently across the entire Stand Sure platform. The opt-out is recorded against the phone number itself, not against any one contact record or any one user's list. That means:

A contact may also decline at the invitation stage by replying STOP instead of YES, as the invitation message itself states.

Help keyword

Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or email help@standsure.app.

Rejoining

Because an opt-out is permanent by design, a number that has replied STOP cannot be re-invited from the app. If someone opted out and later wants to receive alerts again, contact help@standsure.app.

07Message frequency and cost

Message frequency varies. Messages in this program are sent only in response to a real event: one invitation when a contact is added, one confirmation if they consent, and one alert each time the user who designated them activates panic mode in the app. There is no recurring or scheduled messaging, and there are no marketing messages of any kind. Many contacts will go long periods without receiving anything.

Message and data rates may apply. Stand Sure does not charge for these messages; your mobile carrier's standard rates apply.

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on the carrier and the device.

We do not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
